How to Travel Safer

When it comes to traveling odds are you’ll be OK but sometimes unexpected things occur. It’s your duty as a traveler to do everything you can to insure that you have a trouble free trip. Below are five ways that will make your travel safe.

• Learn customs of your destination:

Make sure that when you travel you learn customs of the people so that you don’t offend anyone by accident. Sometimes our ways of doing things differ greatly from another region. For example, the hand symbol for saying “OK” is highly offensive to the people in Brazil. If you learn small things you can avoid an argument, offending someone, and even going to jail!

• Try to avoid pick-pockets:

Every year thousands of travelers fall prey to pick-pocket thieves. Make sure that before you travel you check the area on travel websites to see if the area you will be traveling in is notorious for pick pocket. If it is then there are couple things you want to do. Avoid bringing large quantities of money with you, put a rubber band around your wallet so that it’s harder for your wallet to slip out, and avoid large crowds, kids messing with you, and avoid putting your wallet in your back pocket. If you can buy a pick-pocket proof wallet that you wear under your shirt.

• Sight-seeing:

while you’re sight-seeing thieves are sighting you. Don’t make yourself stand out more than usual try to blend in. Thieves target travelers because they are the most unaware they are being targeted. Avoid walking alone, walk around large crowds, ask directions from authorities only, and if you have a purse wear your shoulder strap across your chest and away from the curb of streets.

• Your hotel:

Once you’re at your hotel go ahead settle in and relax but don’t relax the rules of valuables either. If you must leave your valuables in the room hide them and don’t request the hotel service to come in and clean your room. Hide your valuables under your clothes or if they have a safe that’s available use that.

• Public Transportation:

Travelers are usually targeted at public transportation places. If you are taking a taxis make sure that your taxis has clearly identifiable official markings. Trains have been having a growing problem with robbery. If a stranger is blocking your way or is too close to you move away. If you are taking an overnight train or will be using travel compartments make sure to strap in your belongings. Do not put your luggage under your seat put it under the seat in front of you where you can see it at all times. If you are falling asleep snuggle with your bag or if traveling with someone take turns sleeping.

The above are the most common and the most efficient way for a thief to target you as his next victim. Make sure that you take all precautions when traveling. Be sure to always take copies of all documentation with you. If for some reason you are being robbed let them have your valuables… those can be replaced your life can’t.
